Planning Your Wedding: Prioritizing Your Guest List for Your Big Day

When it comes to planning your wedding, it's important to consider the people who you want standing by your side on your big day. These are the people who you are willing to change your wedding date for, to ensure they can be there. This level of control on your wedding means that being at your wedding is integral to your married life as you move forward.

It's important to keep in mind that the list of people who are integral to your wedding should not be very long. When push comes to shove, the success of your marriage is not riding on whether or not your dear Aunt Sally who you only see every three years can make it. It's not that you don't hope she can be there, but for you to quickly assess who your truly loved ones are and at what lengths you will go to ensure they are with you.

When you think about the number of people you want to invite to your wedding, it's important to consider, with each person you are increasing your food and beverage and service costs and perhaps reducing the level of intimacy. The average wedding venue is typically catering to 125 guests. If your guest count rises above two hundred you may impact how many venues options you have to choose from in your area that can accommodate a group of your size. If you are under 125, you may end up in a space that is more spacious that could require a little bit more furniture for the space to not feel too large.
